The sultan once sent a secret mission through the countryside to find a modest man who could be appointed as a judge. Nasrudin acquainted about the case.

When the delegation, posing as a group of travelers, visited Nasrudin, the members realized that he was wearing a fishing net on his shoulders.

"Why are you wearing this net?" One of them asked.

"Just to remind me of my humble origins, because I used to be a fisherman.”

Thus, Nasrudin was appointed a judge based on this noble sentiment.

One day, visiting the court, one of the officers who had seen him on that occasion asked, "What happened to your net, Nasrudin?"

"There is certainly no need for a net," replied the Mullah Judge, "since the fish has already been caught."
