“The Prophet was aware that our lifetime was just a transitory season, in which the person resides for the rest of his days on earth and then goes to the Hereafter. It was not part of his guidance or that of his companions, or of those who followed and imitated them, established or cared about building houses, elevating, beautifying and extending them. Instead, their homes were among the best transit stations that could benefit the traveler, ward off the cold, the heat, people's eyes, the beasts, and the fear that they would fall on their heads because of their excessive height. They were not built underground to harm their inhabitants, nor were they too high above the ground. They were at the moderate level. This is the best type of home, not too hot or cold. They were not tiny so that their inhabitants were irritated by their smallness, not very spacious, so that even their inhabitants could not benefit from their enormity. Their homes did not have indoor bathrooms so that people would stink from their stench. The smell in their homes was fresh, as the Prophet liked good smells and his house always smelled good. In fact, the Prophet's sweat was one of the best smells ever felt, and such was his body smell. There is no doubt that this is the description of the best type of home, best suited to the body and to be healthy. ’’
